The scientific name of nonwoven fabric is nonwoven material (Nonwovens), also known as nonwoven cloth, non-woven fabric, nonwoven fabric, and non-woven fabric. Nonwoven technology is a material processing technology that originated from textiles but transcends them.

The classification of non-woven fabrics is as follows:

I. Classification by production process:

1. Spunlace non-woven fabric

High-pressure fine water flow is sprayed onto one or more layers of fiber webs, causing the fibers to entangle with each other, thereby reinforcing the fiber webs and endowing them with certain strength.

2. Heat-sealed non-woven fabric

It refers to adding fibrous or powdered hot-melt bonding reinforcing materials to the fiber web, and then heating, melting, cooling and reinforcing the web into fabric.

3. Pulp air-laid nonwoven fabric

It can also be called dust-free paper or dry-process papermaking non-woven fabric. It uses the air flow web-forming technology to loosen the wood pulp fiberboard into a single-fiber state, and then uses the air flow method to make the fibers concentrate on the web-forming curtain. The fiber web is then reinforced into fabric.

4. Wet nonwoven fabric

The fiber raw materials placed in a water medium are opened up into single fibers, and at the same time, different fiber raw materials are mixed to make a fiber suspension slurry. The suspension slurry is conveyed to the web-forming mechanism, where the fibers form a web in a wet state and are then reinforced into fabric.

5. Spunbond nonwoven fabric

After the polymer has been extruded and stretched to form continuous filaments, the filaments are laid into a web. The web is then transformed into non-woven fabric through self-bonding, thermal bonding, chemical bonding or mechanical reinforcement methods.

6. Meltblown nonwoven fabric

The process: polymer feeding → melt extrusion → fiber formation → fiber cooling → web formation → reinforcement to fabric.

7. Needle-punched non-woven fabric

Needle-punched nonwoven fabric is a type of dry-process nonwoven fabric. It is made by using the piercing action of needles to reinforce a fluffy web of fibers into fabric.

8. Sewn non-woven fabric

One type of dry-process non-woven fabric, the sewing method is to reinforce fiber webs, yarn layers, non-textile materials (such as plastic sheets, plastic-thin metal foils, etc.) or their combinations by using the structure of warp knitted loops to produce non-woven fabric.
